Launched in January 2021, Adidas Originals announced the Stan Smith Forever line with three unique iterations of the sneaker design. This timeless footwear is getting a new touchstone in the brand’s journey to help end plastic waste. The sneakers are composed of white Primegreen uppers. Primegreen is Adidas’s new sustainable technology that contains 100 percent recycled polyester.
The women’s iteration features printed planet Earth inspired graphics, a white heel tab, and an ivory tongue graphic. Meanwhile, the next makeup features embossed planet Earth inspired graphics, gold eyelets, and green heel tabs. The third design features a white recycled Primegreen upper, quintessential green heel tab and white recycled rubber outsole updated with the addition of planet earth inspired embroidery throughout.
Bringing the sustainability focus full circle, each pair in the collection comes packaged in the classic Adidas Originals blue box, which has already been updated to be composed of more than 90% recycled paper.
Another classic brand that’s working on reducing their carbon footprint is Superga with the launch of their organic collection. The line includes the brand’s classic 2790, 2750, and 2490 styles done in eco-friendly materials of 60 percent organic cotton, 40 percent hemp, 100 percent organic thread, 50 percent natural rubber, and a natural cork insole sourced from local suppliers. The collection of environmentally conscious styles include two unisex styles and one women’s platform available in off-white colorway.
