Bench finally formally opened its flagship store at Bonifacio High Street last Saturday, January 13.
The bigger news than that, though, was that celebrity spawn, model, budding photographer, and Bench Globesetter Brooklyn Beckham was there to celebrate the event, together with the Suyen Corporation’s Chairman of the Board Ben Chan.
Talk of David and Victoria Beckham’s eldest kid making a visit to Manila had been buzzing since last year, when it was rumored that Beckham, along with fellow Bench endorser Cole Sprouse, would be walking the runway for Bench’s 30th anniversary in November. That one didn’t come to fruition, disappointing plenty of both heartthrobs’ fans.
Saturday afternoon, though, Beckham got to meet a lucky few of them to sign copies of his photography book What I See at SM Megamall and SM Mall of Asia before he joined the rest of his Bench family at the opening of the Bench Flagship Store in the evening.
At the event, the 18-year-old played around in the Bench/Design Studio, customizing t-shirts with patches and a vinyl print of his name done using one of the university shirt-inspired design templates.
The multilevel Bench Flagship Store carries a more extensive range of the brand’s activewear line, denim pieces, and grooming products on its first floor, while the poppin’ fresh Bench Cafè is on the second floor, serving its creative take on popular Filipino favorites with dishes like the Sisig Lettuce Cup with Calamansi Foam and the Tsoknut Ice Cream Sandwich (which is really toasted ensaymada a la mode). On the third floor are Bench Fix Salon and Bench Barbers for those looking for a quick cut or touch-up while in the area.
The customization bar, while not entirely a new thing, has finally found its permanent home at the flagship store, which means shoppers can immediately personalize their Bench shirts anytime they want.
Benchsetters Emil Khodaverdi, Mathew Custodio, LA Aguinaldo, and other local celebrities were also present at the flagship store opening.
The Bench Flagship Store is located at 9th Avenue cor. Lane O, Bonifacio High Street, Taguig. Visit the Bench Facebook page for more details.
